Campbell Bay National Park is situated in the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Campbell bay is a part of the well known Great Nicobar Biosphere This Park is declared as a National Park in 1992. This park has a rich variety of unique species of Flora and Fauna. The Campbell Bay National Park, Andaman and Nicobar is spread over an area of around 426 square kilometers and has a sprawling vegetation of tropical and mangrove forests.


Campbell Bay National Park is a part of Greater Nicobar Biosphere Reserve and was gazette as a National Park of India in 1992.


The Campbell Bay National Park forest area flourishes with various flowering plants and orchids during the spring season. Other plant and tree species found in the park forests include tropical evergreen forest, orchids, tree fern etc.


The richness of wildlife is found in Campbell Bay National Park. The fauna found in this national park is primarily crab-eating macaque, megapode, giant robber crab and Nicobar pigeon. It is also a great location for bird watching. Visitors can watch various species of birds from the watch towers in the forest. The park is haven for the giant robber crabs.


Activities like Swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, coral viewing and rides on glass bottomed boats can be done here. There are trekking trails and places for bird watching. There are boat rides to various islands and to places past the mangrove lined creeks and bays.

Best time to visit:

Campbell Bay National Park is open throughout the year. Usually the temperature remains 31 degree C in summer and 20 degree C in winter. Best time to visit the park is during the months of October to March.


Visitors are advised to get in touch with officials of the sanctuary for complete information entry timings and fee. Usually this Park remains open from 12:00 am to 12:00 pm.

Getting There:

By Air: The nearest airports are in Port Blair city in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chennai and Visakhapatnam cities in India.

By Rail: There is no railway station in Great Nicobar Island. Nearest railway station is Chennai Railway Station in Chennai city of Tamil Nadu, which is approximately 1,169 km (856.87 miles) away from the Island.

By Road: The Campbell Bay National Park is not connected by roads. Visitors can reach the sanctuary through ferries provided by authorities from Port Blair. The CBNP in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is approximately 514 km (319.38 miles) away from Port Blair in Andaman archipelago, 1,169 km (726.38 miles) away from Chennai and 1,640 km (1019 miles) away from Visakhapatnam cities in India.
